DROMEC develops drive system with control software for De Heus Offshore
DROMEC Winches specializes in custom winches and winch systems. Increasingly, the market is requesting client-specific drive systems with advanced control software. Recently, DROMEC delivered an electric drive system with control software to De Heus Offshore. With this development, DROMEC Drives is taking on a new dimension: SPECIAL DRIVES. Due to the growing demand for such solutions, DROMEC has decided to expand its engineering capacity within DROMEC Drives.
Carousels with torque control
De Heus Offshore, based in Wijk bij Duurstede, specializes in offshore cable handling. The company is active worldwide in the design, construction, and rental of high-quality cable handling equipment. DROMEC made a crucial contribution to the drive system of two carousels.
The carousels are capable of handling a weight of up to 10,000 mT. This mass is moved by five frequency-controlled drives that must deliver precisely the same amount of torque. This challenge highlights DROMEC’s strength. In winch systems as well, the demand for 100% synchronized operation is growing. Leveraging its accumulated expertise, DROMEC was delighted to apply this knowledge to the operation of a carousel of this magnitude.
Control software
For this specific application, DROMEC developed a software platform that is universally applicable. This gives the user a simple interface, allowing the entire drive combination to be monitored and controlled at a glance. All of the experience gained over the years has been incorporated into this solution. De Heus Offshore’s input was invaluable to DROMEC during the process.
This is a wonderful development, adding a new dimension to DROMEC Drives!
