DROMEC Winches supplies winch systems to GS Projects Waterhuizen
GS Projects is a leading and innovative shipbuilder based in Waterhuizen, along the Winschoterdiep. For the vessel Baltic Sea, the latest Eco-Freighter 3700 built on behalf of the Longship Group, DROMEC supplied the winch systems.
Anchor Winch and Capstan
For this project, DROMEC developed one hydraulic anchor winch with a double gypsy wheel for a 32 mm anchor chain, along with the corresponding chain stoppers, and an electrically driven capstan with a pulling force of 4,100 kg. DROMEC tested the anchor winch at their production site in Ten Boer, where it was approved in the presence of representatives from Lloyd’s, among others. The Baltic Sea was completed at the construction site in Waterhuizen, where the winches were installed.
Roelof van Urk, Sales at DROMEC:
“We are eager to serve our existing and new customers in the northern Netherlands. GS Projects entrusted us to develop these winch systems. With this robust setup for the new vessel, we hope to collaborate with more customers in finding great solutions!”
News About the Shipyard
The shipyard Ship & Steelbuilding (SAS) in Foxhol will become the new owner of GS Yard in Waterhuizen. SAS will act as a subcontractor carrying out shipbuilding activities for GS Projects. The latter company is owned by German shipbuilding entrepreneurs Christian Hochbein of Hogau Shipbuilding and shipowner Daniel Gausch. Long-term prospects are favorable due to the growing demand for capacity in shipbuilding. At DROMEC Winches, we emphasize the importance of shipyards and employment in the northern Netherlands, supported by our production site in Ten Boer, where we are actively testing winches.
