Winch system for Baltic Wave

DROMEC delivers another winch system to GS Projects for Baltic Wave
“I look back with pride on our contribution to the Baltic Wave, a new and innovative vessel of the Eco-Freighter 3700 type,” says Roelof van Urk, Sales Manager at DROMEC. “This ship, built by GS Projects on behalf of the Longship Group, represents everything modern shipbuilding can achieve.”
Winch Systems
“When GS Projects approached us during the successful completion of the Baltic Sea, we were eager to take on the challenge again,” says Roelof. “For the Baltic Wave, we developed a custom-made anchor winch and capstan. The anchor winch features an electro-hydraulic drive and a double gypsy wheel, specifically designed for a 32 mm anchor chain. We also supplied the corresponding chain stoppers and an electrically driven capstan with a pulling force of 4,100 kg.”
Testing and On-Site Installation
“The production of these systems took place at our workshop in Ten Boer. Here, we not only built the winch but also conducted extensive testing. It was an intensive process, with representatives from Lloyd’s present to inspect the quality and performance. Once the systems were successfully approved, we transported them to Waterhuizen, where the Baltic Wave was completed, and our winch systems were installed.”
Collaboration
“GS Projects once again entrusted us with developing these systems. For us, this was another opportunity to demonstrate what DROMEC can offer shipbuilders in the northern Netherlands and beyond. These robust, tailor-made solutions are the result of close collaboration and shared expertise. Together with GS Projects, we have delivered an innovative and high-quality solution that fully meets the stringent requirements of the shipbuilding industry.”
